History of Thamarassery Churam-Make our moment:

Thamarassery Churam is a mountain passage is located in India across the Western Ghats. Thamarassery is formerly known as Thazhmalachery."Churam" is the Malayalam word for ghat. Hence, it is more prominently called Thamarassery Churam. Thamarassery is an agricultural area, and a large portion of its population are farmers. Coconut and rubber are the major products. Kerala's first rubber estate, now in the hands of AV Thomas and Co., is located here.

Thamarassery churam  is also known by other names like Wayanad Churam, Kozhikode-Wayanad Churam. This is not a tourist destination, it is a road to Wayanad from Calicut. Wayanad Ghat pass also known as Thamarassery Churam is along the National Highway NH766 connecting Kozhikode with Wayanad. Wayanad Ghat road is the most beautiful in South India stretching 14 Kms and having 9 hairpin bends with each turn taking one to a higher altitude offering a better view of the picturesque plains .




History of  Thamarassery churam reveals that the foreign rulers were attracted by the beauty of Wayanad especially the spices and they tried to make many passes to reach Wayanad. Then after tribal community showed them this route. As the tribal community showed the route they kill the tribal head. And it is the belief that his spirit used to haunt the travelers by throwing away the vehicles into the valley. Then it had been chained to a tree to solve the problem.
