Established in 1973, Muthanga Wildlife sanctuary is contiguous to the protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the northeast and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu on the southeast.
Also known as Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, this area is home to a large variety of wild animals such as Indian Bison, tigers, elephants, and deer, Panthers, jungle cats, civet cats, monkey, wild dogs, and bears. These are the main animals live in this forest.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

The Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary or Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary has a wide variety of animals. Different species of birds and animals are here.

•    It is located in the northern side of Wayanad, travalers can explore its vast dense regions and engage in a wildlife safari.

•     Jeep safari is available. Through wildlife jeep safari you can spot a wide range of animals and birds.

•     The safari time is twice in a day from 7 am to 9 am and 3 pm to 5 pm. Experienced guides from forest department will be with you.
