Places To Visit In Munnar
For a South Indian especially from Kerala, will find a green valley when they hear the name Munnar. Munnar is a vast area contains various tea plantations and lush greenery. The wildlife and the hill station is the superior thing that makes us feel the Munnar.
As I told earlier, Munnar has various tourist destinations to visit. My aim is to share some of the most beautiful places to visit in Munar. The green tea plantations, wildlife sanctuaries, waterfalls, hill stations, etc are included in this post.
Cheeyappara Waterfalls - Welcome Party For You
This waterfall is situated in the Idukki district is a welcome party spot for you. Becuase if you are coming from Cochin side this is the first tourist spot that you visit. It is situated near to the road and you will get the fresh water. Near to the roadside, people love to watch this beautiful waterfall. There is a 7 layer structure for this waterfall. And it makes this waterfall too good to watch.
In the time of Monsoon (from June to September) people visit this place. There is no entry fee to visit this place.
Anamudi Peak
Anamudi is the highest peak in south India. The total height of this peak is around 8842ft. when you visit Munnar, you should try this beautiful peak in Anamudi. It is exactly situated in the Eravikulam national park, and you could see the best landscapes from here. This place is mostly visited by trekkers, photographers, nature lovers, etc. This peak contains various kinds of bamboos, flowers, and the most renowned Neelakurinji.
The atmospheric temperature in Munnar and nearby places are in between 15 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celcius. So that visiting Munnar in the summer is also a good idea. The ideal time to visit Munnar is in the winter and summer.
Blossom Park
This park is situated in Munnar which is easily accessible from Munnar KSRTC depot. The green meadows, beautiful flowers and birds are good for the eyes to watch. It's an ideal location in Munnar to take a relaxing walk. There is an entry fee is collected when you visit this place. Here you could do boating, bird watching, photography etc.
This park will open from 9AM in the morning and closes at 7PM in the evening. This is the best place to hang out with children.
Echo Point In Munnar
This is the place where we will get our childhood back!
The echo point will resonate with your voice when you loudly speak there. That means you could hear your echo. And it is 600ft above sea level. You could see cotton-like clouds floating in the air here. You can also witness the beautiful greenery all around you. You will feel the dense cool air with happiness.
The best time to visit this place in the winter and summer. You can do trekking and take photographs here. From 6.00AM onwards you could visit this place. After 7.30PM it is not recommended to visit.
Meesapulimala
In Kerala, various tourist destinations are unattended. The local governing bodies are neglecting some of the best tourist locations. One of the unattended tourist locations in Munnar was Meesapulimala. This location was first introduced in a Malayalam movie named "Charlie" and later the youths in Kerala start to explore it.
From Munnar, it takes around 15KM to reach Rhodovalley. The Messapulimala peak is situated in this region. This is one of the best trekking spots in Munnar region. We need to cover around 8 hills to reach the top of Meesapulimala. It will take around 1-day trekking to reach there. In the winter you could get the most beautiful pictures of Munnar from here.
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary contains various types of animals, trees, and birds. The government promotes eco-tourism here. Here you could see some of the endangered species like giant squirrels, Gaur, spotted deer, Elephants, Tigers etc.
Chinnar wildlife sanctuary opens from 8.00AM in the morning and closes at 5.00PM in the evening. Here you could do camping, wildlife safari, treehouse stay, river trekking etc. The best time to visit this place is in the winter season.
Eravikulam National Park
This national park is famous for 2 reasons. One is the presence of Nilgiri Tahr a type of goat seen in this particular place. And the Neelakurinji flowers which will bloom only once in 12 years. These 2 things make Eravikulam one of the best tourist destination in Munnar. The forest in this place is known as "Shoals". The best time to visit Eravikulam is in the winter season. We need to pay an entry fee to explore the Eravikulam national park. This national park will open from 7.30AM and closes at 4PM in the evening.
Tea Museum
The tea museum will help us to learn about the hard work of employees in the olden times. The British people introduced the tea and coffee plantations in Kerala. And at that time people are compelled to work there hardly. Their sufferings are documented here to know the untold history. This tea museum is open on Tuesday - Sunday. The timing is from 9AM to 5PM.
